What we did
Overview
The Come Follow Me organization (CFM) came to HQ needing a visual refresh and improved features for their mobile applications. They already had a passionate user base in place but they saw potential for greater engagement. To that end, we began collaborating on features to rebuild and improve their apps.
Our mobile developers created new iOS and Android apps from scratch, utilizing designs provided by the CFM team and updated branding from HQ’s design team.
The applications were written natively in Swift and Kotlin to allow for the best user experience. We began by integrating a modern content management system to give the CFM team more control of the content they were creating and manipulating daily.
We built essential new features for their users that continue to be expanded with regular releases. We began by adding Home Screen widgets, reminder notifications, light and dark mode support, and optimizations for iPad. We later added a custom video player with closed captioning and playback speed controls for an improved user experience.
Most recently, we expanded the target audience of the app by adding Spanish language localization. Throughout this process, the team took care to ensure the app remained fully accessible with support for VoiceOver and Dynamic Type, ensuring anyone could access the app’s content.
The result of that design, development, and collaboration has been two applications that have dramatically increased their user base while still maintaining the quality of reviews from original users. The app currently has a 4.9 star rating on over 23K reviews and enjoys a high rate of download and daily engagement.
